Why We Travel

Travel takes us out of our comfort zones and inspires us to open our minds. Offers opportunities to see, taste and try new things. It challenges us not only to adapt and delve into new surroundings, but also teaches us how to engage with people from different experiences and backgrounds. It offers us the courage to embrace new adventures and share meaningful experiences that will not be soon forgotten.
Some of the reasons why we travel include (but are not limited to):
To Leave our World a Better Place
It's amazing what you see when you travel when it comes to the way other countries and communities give back to the world around them. How they protect the environment and preserve the nature that is home to the many exotic animals around the world. For instance, if you visit Nairobi, you can visit Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which is a orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in Kenya. The work they do is incredible and travelling to such places opens your eyes to some amazing work being done.
To Learn about Different Cultures
They say travel is the best classroom. Visiting many areas around the world exposes you to the many different cultures that exist. We often get wrapped up in our daily lives and can't see beyond what and how we live. However, there is a whole world out there that celebrates many different points of view of life. Meeting with people from different backgrounds, traditions, cultures allows us to appreciate not only our similarities but our differences.
To Escape Reality
How often do you feel like you are living the same day every day - or running through the motions almost in auto-pilot? We need to give our minds, bodies and emotions a bit of a jolt to get out of the daily routines. Travel allows you to fall off the radar and explore the unknown - embracing the freedom of living in the moment, visiting new places and being more spontaneous. We become more open to new experiences and set aside our risk-adverse nature.
To Relax
In addition to embarking on new adventures, travel also allows us to unplug. We are engrossed in technology, being connected constantly, being reachable at every waking moment. Travel allows us to get away from the daily demands, dramas and deadlines. We can step back and clear our minds, reset and recharge our minds and bodies - instead of our cellphones and laptops.
To Eat
A true way to experience a new place, or a place you love returning to - is through the food. There are so many delicious foods out there, new dishes to try, homemade and wholesome with real ingredients. My mouth is watering as I type this. However, think about it - who doesn't want to eat all the pasta and pizza in Italy? Who doesn't want to hit every Tapas bar in Spain ... the list goes on. Even if you are unsure about some of the local foods, it is always worth trying something new - you never know. Plus on a vacation - there is no such thing as a diet!
To Become Better Versions of Ourselves
When you plan a trip, think about what you want to see and do. Take part in the authentic experiences - as we promise it can change the way you see the world, and it can encourage self-reflection.
Whether you seem non-stop activity or under the sun siestas, travel gives you the chance to explore whatever your heart desires - and in return you come back a better version of yourself with hopefully a more open mind and heart.
