We work with many different clients for their interior design and décor needs, but when a little girl told us she was ready for a big girl bedroom, we took her wish list and made it come true. It was time to transition her out of her nursery, and we were excited to design a room that she would love and grow into. Here’s a glimpse into what we did.
The Walls
We started off by painting the walls in Benjamin Moore's Gray Owl.
This colour was a perfect choice to brighten up the space. This colour was perfect because we had selected white furniture that we wanted to pop in the room.
To add a little personality to the walls, we included some decals from Urban Walls – and with its neutral tones with a of touch blush, it was perfect for the look we were going for.The decals were easy to install, and we were able to create our own design. The oversized palm leaves really made a statement. almost a work of art.
The Bed
We wanted to ensure we could get the perfect bed, something that a little girl could grow with and when we found this cute house like bed frame - we knew it would be perfect. It was unique and also functional – with the pull-out bed below, it is perfect for sleepovers with her friends. To add some excitement, you can easily wrap twinkle lights or foliage around the frame .
The Accessories
To coordinate with the Tulum vibe brought in with the wall decals, we incorporated woven textures, and natural wood. The added shelf also provided a beautiful decor element and function. We also found that the curves in the piece softened the look of the space.
The Reading Nook
We also decided to create a cute little reading nook as it is the perfect place to read bedtime stories while maximizing the use of the space. Instead of a built-in bench, in case she later wants to put a desk in the area for when she is a little older - we used bench that can be moved but still fits perfectly in the space.
