Coffee Table Décor Ideas - Tip & Tricks

Coffee tables are not only functional, but it a create space to be creative and decorate it with items the pulls the whole room design together. However, when it comes to stylingh here are few coffee table décor ideas that keep things simple yet elevates your table.
First let's start with simple guidelines:
Consider the height of the objects. Ensure that you are not blocking the view sitting across from you. Do choose objects with different heights.
Consider Scale/Proportions – Size of each piece needs to be large enough so you can see them, but not to big that you don’t have enough room to put down drinks. Remember the table must remain functional too
Consider different angels – seating is typically around a coffee table, ensure the display is pleasing to the eye at all angels
When styling a coffee table ensure the pieces goes with the colour scheme and design style of the room. Otherwise, objects will look odd and stick out. Mix up different textures for example combining glossy objects with matte objects.
Here are some decor ideas that are classic:
1) Stacked Books
I love using stacked books, it a great way to play with different heights and add a little personality (regarding the books you choose). I typically like binding/book covers that are monochromatic, so they appear subtle on the table and acts like platform for more ornate objects that usually rest on top them.
2) Floral Arrangements
Floral arrangements generally liven up any room. Personally, I love arrangements that are rich in green colours; like moss or succulents in a black/or white shallow bowl. This is a great way to incorporate seasonal floral arrangements to keep things different each season. If that is too much maintenance for you, find faux foliage (which look like the real thing these days). You can have fun adding a vase that has a pop of colour or cool shape to it.
3) Candles
Candles are just so elegant, and when you do light them… the room illuminates with a beautiful glow that automatically relaxes you. I love adding a simple glass cloche on top of pillar candle. Taper candles are also nice in candle holders with different height for a staggered look (hint: stick with two taper candles max)
4) Geometric Shapes
Yes, yes, and yes…. geometric shapes whether its the vase you choose for your floral arrangement or an object you rest on top of your stacked books. Geometric shapes adds visually interest
5) Trays
Trays are a designer trick to bring displays together and it a great way to fill in the space if you have a large coffee table. You can add all the objects in the tray to make it one vignette. Functionally. trays are a great way to clear a table when you need to use it for entertainment.
Boxes: Simple way to add something horizontal and low. It also a great item to hide coasters or remote controls and stow away those not so nice-looking stuff.
Remember to have fun, explore different options…. even add something personal like object that relates to your hobby, or an object that was collected from a memory/vacation. Add your personal touch that you cannot get from a local store.
