5 Nursery Must Haves
The Olve Design Studio loves designing nurseries. Why? Because you have flexibility to be a little bolder and play with fun colours. Besides it's fun!
Some nursery items we highly recommend for all our clients are both beautiful and practical. Check out what we recommend considering when you are planning your nursery.
1) Glider or Rocking Chair:
Take it from us (fellow moms), hands down we recommend having a glider or rocking chair. Believe it or not, it serves multiple purposes. It’s great to feed the baby and rock them to sleep and as your little one gets older, it's a great spot for them to curl up and read their favourite books. For instance, my son is two-years-old and I still use the his chair for books and settling him down in the morning as we get ready for the day.
2) Ottoman
With every glider you’ll need an ottoman, especially when you need to put your feet up to rest during those late nights. We love opting for neutrals with texture or different shapes. Or if you want to have some added fun, consider a coloured or patterned ottoman.

3) Changing pad…and plenty of covers
Pick a spot to change the baby and keep things organize for yourself. Most changing pads sit on dressers because you can easily change babies’ diapers with access to all you need in the accompanying drawers and grab their clothes without stepping away. When purchasing a pad ensure its high-quality, durable, and washable. This is an item that will get washed regularly. Also buy extra covers, you'll be surprise how fast you'll go through them.
4) Basket & Storage Bins
Baskets go a long way. Helps keep things neat and hidden and still offers a stylistic look to the space. We love incorporating different sized baskets, one for toys, one for extra stuffs, another for extra swaddles and so on. You can also use baskets to put your baby essentials in i.e. like cream, brush, diapers…etc.
5) Book Shelves
Over the years you probably will collect a nice little library of books for the little one. Reading books is a great activity to add to your nighttime routine, it often becomes the universal signal for “its time for bed”. However, the books will pile up (between gifts and library visits etc) so we suggest a simple floating bookshelf or a narrow shelving unit for the corner by your glider - in addition to being practical, it can serve as a nice element of décor.

Most importantly, ensure the space is comfortable for you and the baby - after all it is where you will be spending much of your cherished time together.
